Victoria Certificate of Education (Year 11 & 12)

Ilim College provides students in Years 10 to 12 with a variety of VCE units of study. The VCE is a single-certificate course of study usually taken over the two years of Year 11 and Year 12.

To fulfil the minimum requirements of the VCE, students must satisfactorily complete 16 units of study, including:

  • three units from the English group
  • three sequences of Unit 3 and 4 studies, other than English, and including VCE VET Units 3 and 4 sequences.

At Ilim College, VCE is studied over three years. All Year 10 students are enrolled in a single VCE Study with the intention of completing that sequence in Year 11.

At Ilim College, students usually elect to do more than the minimum requirements to broaden their VCE program and subsequent career and tertiary course options. Furthermore, undertaking six Unit 3 and 4 sequences can help students in gaining a higher Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR).

Students at Ilim College select a total of 24 semester-length units of study from Year 10 to 12. This involves four sequences of English in Years 11 and 12.

Some students may elect to study Units at the Victorian School of languages (VSL), Distance Education Centre of Victoria (DECV) or TAFE.
