GLENROY PRIMARY TERM 2 NEWSLETTER

Assalamu Alaikum Dear Parents and Guardians, Abu Huraira reported: The Prophet (PBUH), said, “He has not thanked Allah who has not thanked peo-ple.” (Sunan Abu Dawud 4811) Alhamdulillah, through the Will of Allah (SWT) and the hard work of all the staff at the Glenroy campus we can reflect on what has yet again been a very successful semester at school. Our teachers and staff participated in professional learning workshops and seminars as part of our ongoing commitment to improve the quality of teaching and learning offered to our students. We had Hugh McCusker come in and demonstrate how to promote Oral Language in our lower primary classrooms. Michelle Beneke engaged staff in insightful discus-sions about the sensory needs of students and ensuring the right amount of adjustments are made to our lessons, classroom set up and interactions to maximise student engagement and learning. Our Grade 3-6 teachers worked with Michelle Hutchinson to implement the SMART spelling pro-gram in our classrooms. We are also very fortunate to launch the Real Schools project with Adam Voigt. Our staff and parents will work with Ad-am to strengthen our approach to Restorative Practices. Download [3.44 mb]

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu, Dear Parents/Guardians and students, A warm welcome to term 2. I hope that the term break was an opportunity for you to have a break before an exciting term begins with new challenges and opportunities. Elhamdulillah we finished term 1 with many good programs and successes to share. It almost seemed as if the term was not enough to run all the activities we wanted to run, but we managed well and I hope that it was a pleasant and productive term for all. The iEntertaintment afterschool program was a great initiative last term. With a great team of teachers, students enjoyed taking part in cake decorating, interfaith, debating, chess matches and maths support classes. They also enjoyed the lunch time activities; book club and craft sessions. The students were also excited to take part in the interschool debating program and have performed successfully in their teams. Active students enjoyed taking part in the interschool sports and have won many matches. The Student Representative Council (SRC) have organised a wonderful Harmony Day program and activities. Through the funds raised from the cake stall and out of white scarf contributions, they were able to raise $1670 which was donated to The Royal Children Hospital during the Good Friday Appeal. Thank you all for a wonderful team effort in contributing to the broader community...... Download [1.51 mb]
